Reflections on the Trip to DC

The 8th grade students have had a few days to reflect upon their trip to Washington D.C.  Below, read their thoughts about the trip and the places that they visited.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the trip to Washington D.C.

My D.C. trip was a great experience for me. I enjoyed being with my friends while I was on the trip. Every day, there was something new to enjoy. I learned so much while on the trip. I do not know what Monument or Museum was best. I am so glad I went on this trip to Washington D.C and I hope the future 8th graders think so too. ~ Andrew

Our trip to Washington D.C., I felt was equally educational and fun. I had a great time with my friends learning about our Country’s history though actually looking at were some of these events happened. I feel like I learned things in DC that we could have only learned through that experience.  ~Rachael

I really liked the 8th Grade Washington DC trip. I feel like I have learned a lot. Everything that I thought Washington D.C. would look like was completely different. Everything was so much bigger than I had imagined.   ~Emily

We were able to do a lot and see a lot.  We played capture the flag on the National Mall.  We had a great time. We had rain one day.  ~Tess

Washington D.C. was an amazing trip that taught us a lot, and I think we learned more by actually seeing and experiencing the things we talked about in school. The weather was perfect besides a little rain and it was usually sunny and warm. We had fun walking to the different places and visiting museums, memorials, monuments, and so much more. D.C. was a great experience and one of my favorite trips I've ever taken. ~ Julie B.

I thought Washington D.C. was a lot of fun. We got to visit so many cool places and learned a lot.  My favorites were the Ghost Tour and the Military Tattoo. I enjoyed spending time with my classmates and Mrs. Heilsberg. ~ Juliana

The trip to Washington was simply amazing! I loved the experience of viewing history in person rather than reading about it or seeing pictures about it. My favorite parts were the Spy Museum and the Newseum because they were so interactive. I had such a wonderful time learning and experiencing all the wonders of our Nation.  ~Fiona

I loved the trip and I learned so much. Because I learned them in such a memorable place I will actually remember what I learned. I really liked the ghost tour, and the National Mall. I will remember this trip forever.  ~Jenna

The trip was a lot of fun. I was amazed at the height of the Washington Monument. I loved the Spy Museum. I was shocked and amazed and fell in love with the Library of Congress. It was one of the best away from home trips I've ever had.   ~Julia O.

The trip was very educational, informational, and exciting. My favorite place was the Spy Museum. It was fun, and the identity game was very memorable. Ford's Theatre and the Supreme Court were very soothing yet interesting at the same time. The memorials and monuments were all so life-like up close! The detail was crazy! In all, Washington was fun on the way there, and on the way back.  ~Gabriella

The trip was a great way to learn about America’s proud history.  My favorite place that we visited was the Basilica because it was such a magnificent viewing of religious art.  The hotel was very nice and I had great roommates.  The memorials were where I learned the most new information.  Great trip overall! ~Jake

Washington, D.C. was fun!  My top 3 places that we visited would have to be the Ghost Tour, Spy Museum, and the Space Simulator.  ~Salah

I enjoyed the trip and wish we had more time in Washington, D.C.  If we had more time, I feel like we would have been able to have more appreciation for the opportunity to go on the trip.  While I liked that we saw a lot, I wish there was more time for certain things.  During the trip, I was able to learn more details on the larger subjects we studied in class.  I am glad that I could go with my class to Washington, D.C.  and see so many memorials, museums, and monuments.  ~Emiko

I thought the trip was very fun.  Everything that we did I was entertained.  We did do a lot of walking, but since we walked we were able to see more than we could have if we were on the bus.  We learned a lot about the town and about the history of our country.  I learned that it is against the law to sit on the floor in the Capitol.  I had a lot of fun and I would do it again if I had the chance.  ~Gracie

This trip was a great experienced, and very enjoyable.  I was amazed as I learned the meaning, symbolisms, and new information about our Country and just about Washington D.C.  It was a great trip and I would gladly do it again.  ~Jimmy

We had so much fun in Washington D.C.  The things that we saw I will always remember.  I learned things that I could not learn in a classroom.  I will remember this trip forever.  ~Michael

I thought the trip was worth the drive.  The memorials, monuments, and museums were awesome to see and learn about.  Mrs. Heilsberg was good at getting us through the day at a quick rate, making the trip better.  We had a nice hotel and I had a great experience with my class.  ~Patrick

On the Washington D.C. trip we learned a lot.  We saw a lot of memorials.  We sat at the Hard Rock Café, but only for about 10 minutes – We ate on the bus.  The Military Tattoo was really cool with the cannons.  ~JJ
