Day 2 in DC: Do You Know What

Day 2: May 20th

WW2 Memorial 

  • Beautiful.  We saw both Kilroy.  - Tess
  • The WWII memorial was very moving and very pretty.  I loved the fountains. – Emily
  • The Atlantic and pacific theater memorials were amazing! - Fiona
    Each of the 48 states in the union had their own pillar. - Emiko

Vietnam memorial

  • The Vietnam Memorial had so many names on it. We wrote letters to the men from Delmar, looked up their names and left the letters for them.  We also saw the Woman's Memorial and the 3 soldiers for the men who came home.  - Michael
  • Interesting and creative idea for memorial. We left our letters we wrote to Delmar veterans. - Tess
  • Glad we got to remember those who served. - Jake
  • 3 exhibits/tributes. It was very nice and sad. - Salah

 Albert Einstein

  • I climbed on it! The Albert Einstein Memorial is the only memorial that can be climbed on - Patrick
  • Einstein Monument was really fun because we got to climb on  it and take pictures. - Julie B
  • Fun to play on.  - Tess

 Spy Museum  

  • Fun to become a spy and train like one.  – Tess
  • The Spy Museum was really cool.  I remembered my identity all the way through! - Emily
  • The Spy Museum was my favorite museum.  We took the bar test and saw all kinds of spy stuff and hidden cameras.  – Jenna
  • Crawling through the air ducts was awesome - Salah
  • We did many hands-on activities, like choosing identities and trying to remember them throughout the museum - Emiko

Newseum

  • We got to spend a lot of time in the Newseum.  We also saw and did a lot.  My favorite part was watching the 4 D video.  I also made a fake newscast, took pictures on the roof top, ate lunch and looked at historic pictures.- Julie B
  • The Newseum really opened my eyes to the world of news - Fiona H

Iwo Jima Memorial

  • The Iwo Jima Memorial had 6 men holding up the flag.  It was beautiful and made me proud. –Gabby
  • Fun, inspirational, told me to never quit - Salah

 Lincoln Memorial

  • The Lincoln memorial was HUGE! It was great to read everything written on the walls.  - Julia O.
  • His hands were placed to spell his initials in sign language - Emiko

 Korean War Memorial

  • In the Korean War Memorial there were 19 statues so when you see the reflection, there are 38 for the 38th parallel.  I thought it was cool that it included different races and military statues. -  Juliana
  • It was very sad looking at the painted faces of young men fighting for what they believe. - Fiona

 Ford's Theatre

  • Learned about the whole assassination plan - Jake

Hard Rock Cafe:

  • It was fun, the food was good and the service was spectacular - Salah

 Twilight Tattoo:

  • #1 of the day! It was cool to see all of the different soldiers act out the evolution of the army throughout the years - Patrick
