After a year of chronological study of the United States of America, students will travel to the Nation's Capitol for a 4 day educational field trip May 27-30.  While in DC, students will visit a variety of museums which will bring our Nation's past into the present including the Holocaust Museum, Air & Space Museum, American Indian Museum, American History Museum, Museum of Natural History, Newseum, and the National Gallery.

For the students, visiting the memorials such as the World War Two, Vietnam, and Air Force Memorials always evoke a great deal of emotion as does the tour of Arlington National Cemetery where the students will observe the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  Other highlights of the trip will include the Library of Congress, Supreme Court, US Capitol, and National Archives.

The four day trip will conclude with a tour of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The largest Roman Catholic Church in the United States and North America is one of the ten largest churches in the world. The Basilica, which is located in Washington, DC is known for its unique architecture as well at its collection  of sacred art.  Rich in Catholic and American history and heritage, the Basilica, in fact, has the largest collection of contemporary ecclesiastical art in the world.
