Day 3 in DC: The Most Beautiful Building...

May 20, 2015  

Arlington National Cemetery: 

  • At Arlington National Cemetery, I was amazed and proud of all of the soldiers who fought in wars. We met a guy who was the commander of the unit at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He talked to us about how when he was our age, he visited here too and knew what he wanted to be when he got older.  Tess
  • It was really cool; we saw the changing of the guards, memorials and all the tomb stones.   Juliana
  • We witnessed the changing of the guard. We saw the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the JFK tomb.  Salah
  • We saw FDR's  tomb. We also saw the switching of the guards who were guarding the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.   Julia
  • Arlington National Cemetery was very interesting. We saw the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldiers.  Jenna
  • I  Liked the JFK memorial and the astronaut memorial.  Jake

Union Station

  • We had lunch there.  Juliana
    We ate food inside here. We also saw the inside. It was beautifully decorated.  Salah
  • We had a delicious lunch and then continued to the Supreme Court.  Julie
  • I went to Johnny Rockets and had a burger, it was good but I had to get soda, not a shake.  Jenna
  • At Union Station, I saw lot's of stores and it was crowded and I had Taco Bell.  Tess

Supreme Court

  • We got to see the inside of the court. We learned about the history of the Supreme Court. The room looked really awesome.  Juliana
  • We saw the inside and sat down and listened to a lecture.  Informational.   Salah
  • We listened to how the cases are decided.  Jake
  • The Supreme Court was huge and very elegant.  Salah

Library of Congress

  • We saw the inside of the library and where all the books were held. The inside of the building was beautiful.  Juliana
  • It was really cool to see this place, and we even saw one of the Supreme Court Justices, Justice Kennedy.  We listened to a lecture about the court room from a very nice man and sat in comfy chairs.  Julie
  • The library of congress is the most beautiful building in DC, and there is a tunnel from it to the capitol.  Jenna
  • The Library of Congress had pretty pictures on the wall, a lot of books, and smart people.  Michael

Capitol

  • We saw a short video and went on a tour. I learned a lot from the tour guide. Congressman, Paul Tonko came in and we left with him to get our picture with him.  Juliana
  • There were statues there from each state and there were paintings.  Jenna
  • We watched a movie and took a tour of the capitol then saw Congressman, Paul Tonko.  Michael

Natural history Museums/American History

  • We had a chose on which museum to go to, but we had to go see the Star Spangle Banner in the American History. I really liked the animals and the diamonds/other stones in the Natural history museum.  Juliana
  • We went the natural history museum, and saw a lot of stuffed animals from all over the world.  Jenna

Dinner

  • We came back to the hotel and ate dinner and sang happy birthday to Julia .  Juliana & Jenna
  • The class and chaperones threw me a surprise party.  I was completely caught off guard.  Julia

Ghost Tour

  • We left from the hotel to the ghost tour. We heard a lot of scary stories, but they were really fun and the tour guide was amazing!  Juliana
  • The Ghost tour guide was Informative, but kept it comedic. Julia
  • The ghost tour was cool, we saw a lot of things and places were historic people lived. Our guide was funny.  Jenna
