Stewardship Commitment |
Thank you to all our families who have committed their time,
talent, and treasure to our faith and learning community for
2008/2009. On behalf of the school board, Fr. Berberian, and
myself, I cannot stress the importance of submitting your
commitment in a timely fashion. We must finalize our school
budget in two weeks and deliver it to the diocese by April 1.
The 2008/2009 budget must be based on the stewardship commitment
of our families. Please communicate with the school this week
about your family's plans for next year.

NYS Testing and Curriculum at St. Thomas |
We are through the "heavy" part of the New York State Testing
Season. WHEW!
Over the past two months, students in grades 3-8 have completed
the English Language Arts and Mathematics exams. I am pleased
to say that our preliminary scoring has indicated our students
did very well.
Why/how do we use these tests? As external evaluations, the
results help our faculty and administration to develop curriculum
and learning experiences that will meet the needs of each
individual child.
Our Goal: We want each child to achieve at
his or her highest academic potential. That means we must
provide the learning experiences that help each child reach this
goal. The NYS tests provide one piece of data that informs our
curricular decisions.
Our teachers are currently engaged in curriculum projects that
will help us reach this goal. Our teachers are committed. They
have begun the process of looking at each student's year-to-year
achievement levels in an effort to design learning experiences
that will benefit your child.
When we receive the official scores later in the spring, we will
share them with you, and we will work together to develop the
academic program that is best for your child.
When it comes to teaching and learning, one size does not
fit all. We are committed to ensuring your child has the
experiences, resources, and time necessary to reach his or her
potential.

In Case You Missed It |
St. Thomas School will be closed on Friday, April 11, for a
diocesan faculty faith-formation day. The online 2007-2008
Academic Calendar has been updated to reflect this.
